Littles
Littles (3-6) Ballet & Tap combo are fun introductory dance classes that teach movement and music. They will learn ballet/tap etiquette and vocabulary, while also having the opportunity to dance in the end of year recital.
Dance Attire: Girls – Pink tights, pink leotard, pink ballet slippers/tap shoes. Boys – Black tights, white t-shirt, black shoes/tap shoes

Ballet
Ballet classes will focus on a strong Balanchine foundation. Priorities being placed on movement, musicality and overall technique with emphasis on beautiful Port de Bras. We offer three levels of Ballet at David Matthew Studios
- Beginner ballet technique class is for students who are new and quick to learn or looking to review the basics of ballet.
- Intermediate ballet technique class is for a serious student with focus on the fundamentals and placement. Clean technique and focus on weight transfers and executing the step correctly.
- Advanced ballet technique class is for serious ballet students who have shown promise, dedication and commitment. This comes with years of training with multiple ballet classes a week.

Jazz
Jazz is a high-energy form of dance. It combines kicks,leaps, turns, and most important STYLE! Learn body placement, movement, expression, and proper techniques in jazz class

Tap
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap while focusing on building coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and developing choreography, either solo or as a team, but most importantly, having fun. As students progress through each level curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. Let’s Tap!

Hip Hop
Hip Hop dance contains a wide range of dance styles to current music and high energy beats. Hip hop focuses on energetic footwork and foundation-based dance including edgy movements with an urban vibe.

Lyrical
Lyrical dance is a style that combines ballet and jazz techniques. It is performed to music with lyrics so that it inspires expression of strong emotion and connection to the music.

Contemporary
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, and classical ballet. Contemporary dancers strive to connect the mind and the body through fluid dance movements.

Pilates
Pilates class will focus on strength, proper rotation from the hip, stretching, breathing and placement. All the while lengthening the body. When executed accurately the body will have a strong core with improved coordination and balance with long lean lines. Please bring your own mats!
Choreography & Improv
Choreography & Improv class will guide students in creating a smooth piece, teach them about angles and what to stay away from. We will also be playing around with improvisation. Free dance is a really great way to start with choreography and helps get your mind and body in the music. There are many exercises to challenge the student in improv and we will try them all!
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre Dance is a form of theatrical performance and character performance. Usually but not always right from a musical or play. You must become the character and make your audience believe it.
